You guys like superheroes, right? Ant-Man and the Wasp became the third Marvel movie in six months to open in first place. It took in $76M on 4,200 screens, suggesting the market for Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly is not yet tapped out. Meanwhile, in its fourth week (and third week in second place), Incredibles 2 has crossed the $500M-mark domestically. Look for Incredibles 3 in 2032.

And they aren’t alone: Deadpool 2 is at #10, Avengers: Infinity War is #15, and Black Panther hangs on at #30. The latter even got a 17% bump at the 52 theaters still showing it.

Counterprogramming options are few but eclectic. The First Purge opened midweek, and stands at #4, with a weekend take of $17M out of $31M total. A grindhouse-y origin story for the 12 hours when all crime is legal, it’s already made its $13M production budget back twice. Whitney Houston documentary Whitney opened at #11 on 450 screens, and well-reviewed satire Sorry to Bother You opened at #16 on 16.

Existing documentaries also did well. Three Identical Strangers added 46 theaters (for a total of 56) to nab 17th place. And Won’t You Be My Neighbor?, the story of Mr. Rogers and his neighborhood, was this week’s documentary winner, rising from 10th to 9th.
