Jeopardy! recap for Tue., May 29 – Today’s contestants are:
– Tim, a filmmaker from Los Angeles, CA, who let the planets dictate the timing of his proposal;
– Jeffrey, a private investor from New York, NY, who wasn’t the most beautiful baby in the opinion of the readers of the New York Daily News; and
– Virginia, a geriatrician from Randolph, MA, who was a Russian major leading into her medical career. Virginia is a two-day champ with winnings of $51,200.
It was a wide-open affair after Virginia missed DD2. Jeffrey took a small lead on DD3, lost it back to Virginia but then got the top spot again, leading into FJ with $13,700 vs. $12,400 for Virginia and $10,800 for Tim.
DD1 – THE FOOD CHAIN – Black bears sometimes prey on the young of this big deer, alces alces (Jeffrey lost $1,200)
DD2 – EXPORTS – Conveniently, this port of Gothenburg is home to this car company’s main plant (Virginia lost $4,000)
DD3 – OKLAHOMA HISTORY – During the late 1800s, this trail across Oklahoma territory was the major route for moving cattle from Texas to Kansas (Jeffrey won $2,300)
FJ – BRITISH COMMONWEALTH COUNTRIES – Of the 16 Commonwealth nations with Queen Elizabeth II as head of state, this one is farthest from the United Kingdom
Everyone was correct on FJ, with Jeffrey adding $11,300 to win with an even $25,000.
Triple Stumpers of the day: With two possible numbers to choose from, no one took a guess that the number of white stripes on the U.S. flag is six. Also, the players didn’t know the rock band responsible for “OU812” is Van Halen.
One more thing: ARRGH! Young Sheldon again! Just how many clues did that kid tape, anyway? He even makes Jay Leno seem less annoying by comparison.
DD1 – What is moose?
DD2 – What is Volvo?
DD3 – What is the Chisholm Trail?
FJ – What is New Zealand?
