Jeopardy! recap for Wed., Apr. 11 – Here are the contestants for day three of the College Championship:
– Caroline, a junior at Furman, who studied the workings of a Disney park;
– William, a freshman from Tufts, who likes art history, especially El Greco; and
– Rishab, a freshman from Georgia Tech, who likes chemistry, no matter what anyone else thinks.
Good three-way battle that saw all players well-positioned going into FJ. William, with $15,800, could feel fairly confident of a wild card spot even if he bet nothing, while Rishab at $13,600 and Caroline with $11,600 would likely want to improve their scores rather than stand pat.
DD1 – SPRING BREAK – This U.S. Federal holiday is the only one in the spring (William lost $3,000 on a true DD.)
DD2 – TIME FOR CLASS – In Marxism the proletariat is the wage-earning class; this is the middle class one big on property values (William won $2,000)
DD3 – ARCHITECTURE & BUILDING – In the 600s Muslim forces captured Jerusalem & by century’s end, they had built this gold-topped shrine (Rishab won $2,000)
FJ – EXPLORATION NAME’S THE SAME – The deepest part of the Mariana Trench & a submersible that went there share the name of this space shuttle
Rishab and William were correct on FJ, with Rishab adding $6,500 to advance with $20,100, edging out William, who bet $4,199 to end at $19,999. William moved into second place in the wild card chase, while Caroline lost $5,000 to finish with $6,600. That puts Caroline in fourth place for a wild card, so she’ll need a lot of help to make it to the next round of the tournament.
Triple Stumper of the day: No one knew that “Vice Principals” and “Room 104” are shows on HBO.
That’s before our time: The players couldn’t guess the first lady who appeared on “Wagon Train” in 1962 was Nancy Reagan.
DD1 – What is Memorial Day?
DD2 – What is the bourgeoisie?
DD3 – What is the Dome of the Rock?
FJ – What is Challenger?
