Jeopardy recap for Fri., Feb. 9

Jeopardy! recap for Fri., Feb. 9 – Introducing today’s contestants:

– Alison, a stay-at-home mom from Pittsburgh, PA, who learned that “get this monkey off my head” works in any language;

– Carlos, an immigration attorney from Los Angeles, CA, who correctly figured that an international relations major would get him on the show; and

– Marty, an accountant and voice artist from Arvada, CO, who had a three-week first date with his wife. Marty is a one-day champ with winnings of $18,900.

Marty broke the game open with a very impressive DJ round, including correct responses to both DDs. He had an easy runaway going into FJ with $26,600 vs. $6,800 for Alison and $3,600 for Carlos.

DD1 – SHAKESPEARE, & I QUOTE – “His horse is slain, and all on foot he fights” (Alison won $2,000)

DD2 – ISLAND NATIONS – This U.N. member is 500 miles northwest of Scotland (Marty won $2,000)

DD3 – NATIONAL INVENTORS HALL OF FAMERS – “Inventor of The Checkered Game of Life, (he) ushered in a new age of parlor games” (Marty won $4,000)

FJ – 20TH CENTURY BOOKS – An “ineffible quality”, this 3-word title represents “the ability to go up in a hurtling piece of machinery” day after day

Only Marty was correct on FJ, so Alex will have to find something else to complain about other than champs not getting FJ right. Marty added $3,600 to win with $30,200 and a two-day total of $49,100.

Movie miscues: The players couldn’t figure out that “Gone in __ Seconds” plus “Assault on Precinct __” equals 73 (60 + 13), or that “(___) Days of Summer” times “_ Heads in a Duffel Bag” equals 4,000 (500 x 8).

Correct Qs:

DD1 – What is “Richard III”?
DD2 – What is Iceland?
DD3 – Who was Milton Bradley?
FJ – What is “The Right Stuff”?
