Jeopardy! recap for Tue., Jan. 9

Jeopardy! recap for Tue., Jan. 9 – Lindsay had just taken the lead from champ Brandon when she found DD2, but she missed and as a result, wound up in second going into FJ with $7,000 vs. $9,600 for Brandon and $2,600 for Matt.

DD1 – BUGS MEANIE – If an Africanized colony of these is disturbed and in a bad mood, you may meet 10,000 of them in 15 seconds (Brandon won $1,200 on a true DD.)

DD2 – WHAT IN TARNATION? – Name for a son of Poseidon, it’s Neptune’s largest moon (Lindsay lost $2,000)

DD3 – Not seen

FJ – THE FIRST CENTURY A.D. – Letters written by this Roman recount the events of a natural disaster, like the death of his uncle, a famous scholar

With her wager of $3,001, Lindsay forced herself to be correct in order to have a chance, as Matt doubled up to $5,200 on FJ. A bet of less than $1,800 would have eliminated Matt from contention while giving her the win if Brandon missed without having to be correct herself.

However, it all worked out in the end as Lindsay was also right on FJ, taking the victory with $10,001 when Brandon was shown to be incorrect.

That’s before our time: Despite being spotted the first name Donald, the players didn’t know the last names of “Make ‘Em Laugh” song-and-dance man O’Connor or Steely Dan co-founder Fagen.

Missing the layup: For a clue about an 1873 Western train robbery, after Matt missed with Billy the Kid, his opponents didn’t jump in with Jesse James.

This day in Trebekistan: Alex opened the show with his always crowd-pleasing impression of Yakov Smirnoff.

Correct Qs:

DD1 – What are bees?
DD2 – What is Triton?
FJ – Who was Pliny? (the Younger, although the judges did not insist that the players be specific.)
