Scene Dissections: An Introduction

Hello Avocado!

One thing to get out of the way first: Yes, this is Martha. I am Martha. Here, however, as you can see, I am Jimy Coma. Why? A bit of a change. Also, other reasons that might come up later. Not now. You can still call me Martha, I’m cool with it.

Anyway, welcome to Scene Dissections! What is Scene Dissections you ask? Good question, hypothetical reader!

Scene Dissections is an on-going feature that anyone can contribute to. It is dedicated to the discussion of a particular scene or moment from any visual media that includes television, film, and stage productions such as plays and musicals. You pick the movie and the scene, and then you provide the analysis. Keep it as minimal as you like or get into the deeper meaning behind the scene itself. The purpose is to say “Hey, this scene is really cool and here’s why.” It’s an opportunity to geek out about something trivial in a way that allows you to show off your insights into pop media.

No real rules.

This was an idea that came about when I was watching Face/Off on TV while working out and it was the prison escape scene. I felt like I just had to write about this because it was an amazing sequence with a lot of little machinations that had to follow a certain path in order to work.

Welcome to the new Avocado! I hope you enjoy.
