Werewolf 224: From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankwolfer — Day Four

It was not quite as easy to become an expert on Michelangelo as Claudia had hoped, as they gathered quite a few books with quite a lot of words without much depleting the section of the library. After discussing the differences between angels and cupids — angels are dressed and Christian, while cupids are naked and pagan, Claudia asserted confidently — and rifling through a book about Michelangelo’s lost works, they decided that the Angel was not amongst the artist’s known missing statues.

Still, Claudia was certain the Angel must have been created by Michelangelo, and she was determined to prove it. She just didn’t know what to do next and was growing rather despondent.

“We have an advantage the others don’t,” pointed out Jamie. “We live with the statue.”

Claudia perked up. Jamie was right!

The next morning, before the museum opened to the public, the Kincaid siblings snuck through the Renaissance wing to get to the Great Hall where the Angel had been moved for ease of traffic. Along the way, they passed the Angel’s previous pedestal.

“I wonder why they changed the velvet from blue to gold?” Claudia mused.

“Maybe the blue got dirty,” shrugged Jamie, not terribly interested.

“Oh one of the workers must have set his beer can down on it. How rude! See?”

Claudia pointed at a mark pressed into the velvet — three interlocking rings and a letter.

“Wait!” protested Jamie. “The velvet is crushed up, not down! The mark must be from the bottom of the statue. What do you think that ‘W’ means?”

“That’s not a ‘W,’ it’s an ‘M’ — for Michelangelo!” replied Claudia, too excited to quibble with the grammar of “crushed up” in this context.

Before they could discuss it further, noises from the Great Hall made them hide behind the case containing the walkie talkies handed out for tours. Their investigation would have to wait.

As they hid, they heard a beleaguered mom of . . . seven? eight? . . . energetic young children shouting at her husband.

“Are you even listening to me, Brett? First you have an emotional affair with that floozy cow, and now you . . . What are you looking at, Brett? Brett!”

Brett tore his attention away from the suspicious activity happening down the hall and protested, “Honey, I think someone’s trying to rob the museum!”

“I cannot believe you, Brett! Staring at another woman’s . . . another woman’s thievery while your children are standing right here! We are leaving, and my mother will be coming to visit! Come along now, Charlytin, K’, Coxis. Keep up, Billandry! Barfallomew, get your finger out of your mouth! Who knows where these exhibits have been? Chelvyn, precious, hold Pearnold’s hand. Is that everyone? Oh who cares? Let’s go, Brett.”

The argument drew the attention of the guards, who also escorted out Virginia “Gin” Baker, despite her protestations that she was truly an insurance investigator.

Mirage / Catherine Zeta-Jones from Entrapment is dead. They were a Museum Employee (Vanilla Town).

Vote in the Vote Thread (sort by Oldest). Only votes in the Vote Thread will count. You may change or retract your vote until Twilight. Please post nothing but votes in the Vote Thread.

A tie at Twilight will result in a random player dying by RNG (from amongst all players on the board).

No editing or deleting posts on the Day Threads. Editing in Discord is allowed.

Do not directly quote, copy/paste, or screenshot Discord posts on the game threads.

No game-related talk after Twilight.

Try to post at least three times per game Day.

Be kind. Critique arguments, not players. Site rules still apply to Werewolf, and sometimes what feels like just part of the game to one player can feel very personal to another player.

Have fun!
