Still recovering from being sick so tonight, something I stumbled upon that’s tangentially Halloween related…
General Mills Secret Magic was a tape that you could order during the eighties, for the then-princely sum of two proofs of purchase and seven bucks. All your favorite mascots appear – the Trix Rabbit! Franken Berry, before he was exiled to seasonal release! The…S’morecerer? I do have to give the featured magician, Dan Witkowski, credit; he’s enthusiastic, is a decent teacher, and it turns out he had a long career in magic until his 2023 passing, even directing the 1989 Super Bowl halftime show.
The S’morcerer, on the other hand, fared less well. His cereal S’Mores Crunch only existed for a six year period in the eighties. Based on the animated ads for his cereal that’s a little surprising, given he seems to wield power over life and death. But then again, if he was that powerful he probably could have requested a better puppeteer for this video because I’m pretty sure I could have done a better job.
Have fun posting!
