Welcome to the weekly TV thread.
The Original TV Score Selection of the Week is David Fleming’s “Boogeyman” from Widow’s Bay’s “Your Baggage” episode.
Though many of my favorite live-action shows wound up on it, I don’t care for that NYTimes clickbait list of the 100 best TV shows of the 21st century (which was discussed here last month). As the folks in the Animation Time thread pointed out, only one animated show made it to the list: BoJack Horseman (a show I quit after its first few episodes because the casting of Alison Brie as a Vietnamese American character bothered me, and either VyVy Nguyen, who later voiced a Vietnamese character in BoJack’s fifth season, or Hong Chau should have been cast as her). There are zero anime shows. The one Star Trek show that should have made it onto the list is not on there. Louie does not deserve to be #41 or on any other spot on that list. Fuck that list.
Jamelle Bouie co-hosts one of my favorite podcasts about movies (the ’90s-focused Unclear and Present Danger) and his tastes match my own, but otherwise, the Gray Lady does so much asinine shit these days that there’s now only one thing I still like about that paper, and it’s its style guide. I always abide by several of its guidelines to bring consistency to my blog posts. I say, “several of,” because the Gray Lady’s practice of putting dots between the letters “NBA” is asinine Bosley Crowther generation shit, so I don’t do that.
The only “100 Best TV Shows of the 21st Century” list I like is Blaine Capatch’s.

Yeah, Downton Julie Brown was a captivating drama about the encroachment of modernity on time-honored values, and I liked how Julie signed off every episode with “Wubba wubba wubba, fare thee well and God bless,” followed by a curtsy.
Capatch wrote for MADtv, where he came up with the “Pervert Senator” sketch (the one where David Herman played a right-wing senator from the South who condemns every single work of art he sees and claims that each of them contains pictures of naked boys) and pitched ideas like an unproduced parody of seaQuest DSV called seaQuest DMV. (I would have loved to have seen that seaQuest parody because I occasionally watched seaQuest on NBC and wrapped up one of my high-school textbooks in a seaQuest Season 2 “Wilder. Faster. Deeper.” book cover my school handed out to my classmates and I.)
Even though he left MADtv after a couple of years (and has said to Mad Rewind podcast host Brandee Stilwell, one of the Fox sketch comedy show’s associate producers, that he was relieved to have left), Capatch is still pitching parody ideas. (His pitches on his Bluesky account always open with “quick get MAD TV [sic] back on the air so I can pitch…”)
MADtv also happens to be the same show where Katie Dippold cut her teeth as a writer—one of her sketches was the “Coffee Twins” sketch that starred Crista Flanagan and Arden Myrin as co-workers who think a mildly amusing inside joke between them is the most hilarious shit in the world—and she’s currently having an awful year. Dippold created and is in charge of an obscure show called Widow’s Bay.

That leads me to today’s prompt, and it’s for Widow’s Bay viewers only: What’s your favorite supernatural-threat-of-the-week from that show?
Mine is the evil book that possesses Patricia.
