This is part of a series of mini-reviews of R.E.M.’s studio albums, ranked worst to best. (Don’t worry; I’ll keep them short.)

And, of course, the #1 R.E.M. album is:

AUTOMATIC FOR THE PEOPLE

Was there ever any doubt? Fantastic songs and production, and a dark but optimistic atmosphere.

BEST SONGS: Drive, The Sidewinder Sleeps Tonight, Everybody Hurts, and everything from Sweetness Follows to the end.

WORST SONGS: Nope.

Perhaps my favorite R.E.M. song.
