The Day Thread Ranks R.E.M.’s Albums: #2

This is part of a series of mini-reviews of R.E.M.’s studio albums, ranked worst to best. (Don’t worry; I’ll keep them short.)

#2: Lifes Rich Pageant.

My favorite I.R.S. release. When I bought it, I remember thinking, “My God, they just keep getting better and better.” And for the most part, they did. Love the R.E.M. sound with the edge tightened into rock and roll.

BEST SONGS: Begin the Begin, These Days, Cuyahoga, I Believe, Just A Touch, Swan Swan H, Superman

WORST SONGS: Underneath the Bunker is kind of disposable, but not awful.

Did not know this was about Elvis’s death. I could never understand the words.
