Movieacados! Well it is now the 22nd of September and that makes it officially the fall and fall is special to me. It is the season of both myself and Mrs. Fistcrush’ birthdays, obviously it is when Halloween happens and I try to carve a really fun Jack o’ Lantern, it has a turkey day, and our local Comic Con which I am increasingly a big part of organizing is held in the fall. Yes there is a lot happening this season and let’s have a look at it on the big screen.

Autumn/Fall allows a lot of opportunities for film makers. It inherently carries themes such as change, the coming of a darker time and in the midst of all that even death. Although I do not view it that way, there is not really a good theme for: “Most comfortable time of the year temperature wise”. Aside from themes, we have several major and minor holidays to choose from, Halloween, Thanksgiving (both American and Canadian), in Canada we have Remembrance Day in November, and this is the season of Oktoberfest! There is a ton here to base a movie setting around (though I am not sure I have ever seen Canadian Thanksgiving featured I have seen Oktoberfest be a minor plot point to a… well I don’t want to call Strange Brew a major Canadian movie, more of a cult one, but it features Oktoberfest nonetheless (and it factors into the overall plot). Leaves change, animals hibernate and to everything, even movies, there is a season to turn, turn, turn it into a scene.
