How do you know when you’re done?

What is the best way to end a story? Do you make sure every loose end is taken care of? Do you follow up on each individual character in a “ten years later” epilogue? Do you close with the hero and the love interest kissing dramatically in front of a sunset, or the tragic hero dying dramatically after a battle, or characters standing over a gravesite? 

Do you feel lost and have trouble moving on emotionally after you’ve finished something big, or are you just relieved it’s over with?
