This is part of a series of mini-reviews of R.E.M.’s studio albums, ranked worst to best. (Don’t worry; I’ll keep them short.)
#12: Out Of Time.
I know I’ll get feedback for this choice (Country Feedback?), but they tried a lot of experiments on this record. Some of them don’t work, and even the ones that do push the album away from a traditional R.E.M. work. Nevertheless, there are some great songs here.
BEST SONGS: Radio Song, Losing My Religion, Shiny Happy People, Texarkana, Country Feedback
WORST SONGS: Did we really need Endgame? But it’s pleasant.
I don’t dislike this record, but there’s a lot of stuff that just feels like filler.
