The Avocado Weekly Movie Thread (08/25)

Movieacados! This week I thought I take inspiration from the super fun Movie Club! This week they (and by they I mean we as I try to post there as often as I can) will be watching/discussing one of my all time favourite movies: Robocop. As such we do not need to get into a big discussion here, just to use it as a springboard to our weekly discussion prompt: Robots, specifically moviebots!

Robots are great in movies as they can be any size, from nanobots getting into our bodies to giant planet eating Unicrons. They can be humanoid shaped reflections of ourselves or a ball that rolls around with it’s held held in the upright position due to some kind of really cool magnetic effect. Often used as side characters for comedic relief or to impart some wisdom on the main characters, we have also seen in more recent years robotic characters as protagonists. There is a lot a robot can do for a movie narratively, character-wise, or just looking really really badass cool (Robocop fits all three of these), so even as I am typically not to hot on AI, in terms of movies AI bots have been a great blessing to us the viewing audience.

As such we com to this weeks prompt: What is your favourite movie robot, or use of movie robots? Remembering that there are many ways to be counted. Futurama has at least 4 straight to video/TV movies so Bender counts (as well as any other bots who show up in those movies).
