It’s finally here!!! Taemin’s new album is everything I hoped it would be and more. The album moves from one song to the next like a story, but it’s the kind of story that rips your heart out. You start in a seemingly blissful joy but with a darkness lurking underneath, into joy (?) but maybe it’s obsession (?), to betrayal, devastation, loss of control, to a conclusion that hints at Phase 2 (“I’m free, get me outta these strings / Puppeteer ain’t got nothing on me / No key could’ve opened that door / Take me off the hinges, I’m about to make noise” 👀). I’ll be listening to this album on repeat all day, and when my CD arrives I’ll listen to that on repeat, and I will share every video he releases here on the site because I need everyone to know how special Taemin is.

And really, I’m not being dramatic or exaggerating when I say I can’t stop crying while listening to some of these songs, “Frankenstein” most of all (not embedded in case the cover of the album is visually upsetting, it features Taemin’s arms grafted together, pulling apart, and while it’s obviously fake skin I try to be extra cautious in headers). When I first heard the tiny bit of this song he performed at Coachella, I knew this was something special, and I’ve been waiting (not patiently) for the full version to be released ever since. It killed me even more than I thought it would. 😭

I hope Taemin feels proud of what he created here. I hope he feels in control of his music. I hope he feels loved.
