Today, Shirley Manson, the iconic Scottish rock goddess, outspoken activist, and T-1000 actress from Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, turns 60.
Those who know me know she is my favorite singer. The Garbage album Version 2.0 is my favorite album of all-time, one that has carried me through momentous highs and some devastating lows. Seeing her in concert in Brixton when Garbage was on tour celebrating their 20th anniversary of their debut album remains one of my fondest concert-going experiences.
Cheers to you, Shirley! May this next decade be every bit as glorious as you deserve. Continue taking absolutely no shit from anyone!

A fun tidbit from an interview she had with SPIN back when Garbage reunited and were promoting their comeback album, Not Your Kind of People:
SPIN: Does any part of you long for the industry of the ’90s — platinum sales, chart positions, big video budgets?
SM: There is not one single shred in my entire body that misses that. And I’ll tell you this also, though I’m sad to say it: To see those fat c*nts lose their jobs gave me an unbelievable sense of satisfaction. To know we’ve outlasted them makes me feel so victorious I don’t even know where to start. Because they treat you so well when the money’s pouring in — they’re up your fucking jacksie — but the minute things are not so sweet, you can’t even get them to pick up the phone. Now they’re getting a taste of their own medicine.
And closing it out with my favorite song from Version 2.0:
******
Have a great day, afternoon, evening, ‘cados!
