Today marks five years since I came out as bisexual on Facebook. I did so after one in the morning, which common sense would dictate to be a terrible idea. But it was a long time coming.
I’m gonna be real: I wanted to do more with this. I wanted to be more self-congratulating, and to make this header not just a celebration of myself, but also of everyone here who supported me on this journey. And it’s just…hard to do that right now. This year has been rough on my end, and a recent event on this site has been…difficult to say the least.
I didn’t want to completely neglect doing anything, either. It was a life-changing decision, and it’s one I want to commemorate every year. I just…wish I knew what to say. Or how to say it. I will say that as far as my sexuality and gender exploration went, he was one of my biggest cheerleaders. It’s…surreal to think he can’t read this. I would like to think he still can, though.
Just love yourself, okay? You don’t have to love me. But love yourself. Love each other. And be who you are in the best way you possibly can. You’re beautiful the way you are. Even if you don’t know it.
Be safe. Be well. Be you. I love you.
