Moviacados! I find August to generally be the end of supper blockbuster season. There are usually a few releases that interest me a bit, but for the most part it is very rare if the ‘gotta see in theatres’ variety of movies is released during this month (in point of fact I usually use August to ‘clean up’ some of the July movies I missed). And this is not a knock against August, Summer Blockbuster season has to end sometime, it just happens to be this month lately (again as far as I am concerned). There are still a lot of great movies that are going to come out this year that don’t need to be big giant special effects galas.

If I am being honest it seems like summer blockbuster season starts earlier every so many years. When I was a wee Fistcrusher my memory tells me it was starting mostly in June seemingly to coincide with the end of the school year. Then a few years ago Marvel movies took over everything for a bit and it seemed the beginning of May was now the summer kick off, just you know… in spring. Then eventually people stopped competing for the first weekend in May and some big releases went out in April and even March.

But more importantly for this week’s prompt: How was your summer movie season? Did it live up to expectations, any surprises, misses? Now that this is over with are you excited for the impending Holiday/Oscar release season? Enjoy and have fun.
