DD1 – $800 – COLORFUL PHRASES – Jack London’s “John Barleycorn” tells of a drinker who sees “blue mice” & these, significantly larger (Caleb dropped by $3,000 to $1,000.)
Scores at first break: Caleb $2,800, Andy $600, Angharad $1,000.
Scores entering DJ: Caleb $6,800, Andy $400, Angharad $2,800.
Double Jeopardy!
IT HAPPENED ONE NIGHT // 4-LETTER SYNONYMS // WORLD CITIES // IN BETWEEN // ASTRONOMY // CELEBRITY PODCASTS
DD2 – $1,600 – WORLD CITIES – It’s the African capital where locals shouted “Ali, bomaye” before a heavyweight bout in 1974 (Caleb lost $3,000 down to $5,000.)
DD3 – $1,200 – IN BETWEEN – Henry VIII is buried next to this wife who came between Anne Boleyn & Anne of Cleves (With $6,800, Andy added $4,000 vs. Caleb at $13,800.)
Caleb missed the first two DDs while Andy was correct on DD3, then Caleb couldn’t quite get the runaway late, so it was still a game into FJ with Caleb at $24,200 vs. Andy with $12,400 and Angharad at $1,600.
Final Jeopardy!
MOVIE MUSIC – The main theme heard in this movie uses a motif that’s an alternating pattern of an E & an F, gradually becoming insistent in this space
Everyone was correct on FJ. Caleb added $601 to win with $24,801 for a 12-day total of $346,968.
Final scores: Caleb $24,801, Andy $24,400, Angharad $2.200.
Wagering strategy: When he found DD3 with just less than half of Caleb’s leading score, Andy held back $2,800 from his wager. By doing this instead of going all-in, he almost fell short of breaking up Caleb’s FJ runaway.
Clue selection strategy: With DD3 still on the board, both Caleb and Andy chose from the category in which DD2 had already been found.
Correct Qs: DD1 – What are pink elephants? DD2 – What is Kinshasa? DD3 – Who was Jane Seymour? FJ – What is “Jaws”?
