Petrus Peckius the Elder was born on this day in 1529. He was known for his writings on maritime law. In 1552 he married Pamela Pleevesly. Petrus and his wife were reputed to have had several brilliant and well known children, including, presumably, Petrus Peckius the Younger, but oddly, no records of their offspring seem to have survived.
