Georgia Aquarium Night Thread (7/8/26)

The Georgia Aquarium opened it 2005. It sits in the middle of Atlanta, sharing a block with the National Center for Civil and Human Rights and the World of Coca-Cola. The Centennial Olympic Park is directly south of them. You can easily spend a day exploring the area.

Where the New England Aquarium is compact, the Georgia Aquarium is sprawling. It has to be as it provides a home to the largest fish in the world: whale sharks. Taroko and Yushan were rescued from a seafood market and lived at the aquarium for nearly two decades. I had the honor of visiting them both a few months before Taroko sadly passed.

Shark fans will also appreciate a lovely assortment of black tip reef sharks, sandbar, silvertips, tigers and great hammerheads.

(I also crawled through some penguin habitat tunnels that ended up being rather terrifying.)

Welcome to the Night Thread!
