A new dosa place opened up in our neighborhood. We stopped in around 9pm Tuesday to check it out. It’s a bare bones space, they didn’t bother to repaint over the Jamaican themed colors from the jerk place that was in the space before them. There were two other tables at that time of night which I took to be a good sign. We ordered dosa, idli, pakora, and samosas. Everything was delicious and came to the table piping hot. The chutneys with the meals were excellent. One coconut, one with peanuts that Id never seen before, one with cilantro and a super pungent ginger chutney that I could’ve eaten a bowl of.

After the meal we went to the counter to pay and the owner said, “I expected people that look like you to ask for butter chicken! How was it? It wasn’t too hot for you I hope?” We got a good chuckle out of that and I assured him he can go hotter with the masala for me. He said he’d been working in kitchens and finally saved up enough to open his own place. I can’t wait to go back and maybe I’ll even try the butter chicken.
