The Eternia Night Thread Rocks

Daniel Pemberton is having a great year. Known for composing the scores for The Bad Guys and Spider-Verse films, he recently won acclaim for his borderline religious music for Project Hail Mary, and has now delivered another winner with Masters of the Universe. By chance, Pemberton ran into Queen guitarist Brian May while at Abbey Road Studios, and was able to talk the rock legend into collaborating.

Fittingly and unsurprisingly, the result sounds like something straight out of 1980’s cult classic Flash Gordon, and I mean that in the best way possible. The main theme–“Eternia”–gave me chills immediately when I heard it in the theater as the opening logo featuring Cringer in the place of the lion on the MGM logo appeared on screen. This is a spectacular and instantly iconic track, and one which I hope earns the recognition it deserves going forward. Look, I know the movie hasn’t had the best box office, okay? I feel like Jeb Bush going “please clap.” But seriously, do please clap.

Have the power tonight, y’all!
