“Spoo” is, to quote the Babylon 5 Wiki directly, a “meat based food product produced by the Centauri Republic and is a staple of the average Centauri diet. It is a favorite of Londo Mollari. Cherished by the Centauri, it can be quite expensive, costing the average non-wholesale customer as much as 10 credits an ounce outside the Republic.” Is that accurate? I have no idea. I’ve never watched Babylon 5, so that just sounds like Star Trek to me. But “spoo” is very popular amongst Babylon 5 nerds, considering there’s an official cookbook.

So why would I make a Babylon 5 header when I don’t know spoo about the show? Because J. Michael Straczynski, creator of the series, used to work at Filmation. And “spoo” is actually an Easter Egg from Masters of the Universe, or more specifically, an episode of She-Ra in which Skeletor has to begrudgingly team up with his enemies (again). And to make him even grumpier, the “Twiggets” (think forest Smurfs, only taller) try to cheer him up with some yummy “spoo”…which he is absolutely repulsed by, despite admitting he has no idea what it is.
