Happy Monday, folks, and welcome to the Weekly Video Games Thread!

We are in the summer games season! I won’t call it “Summer Games Fest” because there are non-SGF events, and I don’t want to give the event more respect than it deserves, which is not much. However, for journalistic reasons I’m probably going to get into in my own post, I’ve been watching a ton of it. Tons of announcements and trailers and bad jokes and bad skits and on and on. And, speaking as someone who has covered Nintendo press events for so long and with so much skill that I’ve been cited by goddamn Wikipedia, I gotta say this: the summer games era is too goddamn much.

I’m an old man at 36! I can’t keep powering through dozens of multi-hour shows filled with games that aren’t that interesting and which are probably not in my area of focus! But I’m not going to kvetch because today, that’s your job! If you could change one thing about Summer Games Fest and the surrounding June press conferences and live shows, what would it be? I outright hate most negative prompts, but now, I gotta vent.

And, of course, what did you play this weekend? Because I beat Mina the Hollower in just over a week!
