That’s right, it’s once again time to shamelessly rip off another Avocado’s header gimmick! In 1991, Pravda Records had a fun idea – why not have modern bands do a tribute to all of the K-Tel compilation albums they grew up with? This album was the result. It’s especially notable for one track, a cover of the Ozark Mountain Daredevils’ “Jackie Blue” by the Smashing Pumpkins that was recorded during the sessions for their first album “Gish”.

WordPress won’t let me embed a YouTube playlist so click here for a playlist with all twenty songs. For the embed, I’ll go with the first track and my personal favorite – a high-energy cover of “Hooked On A Feeling” by The Slugs.
Have fun posting!
