The 30 April Night Thread of “20 Everlasting Memories of the 50’s” by K-Tel

Sigh. The 50’s. Again.

And it’s not even the 50’s that I like, like the early rock n roll, it’s the more easy listening stuff. Not that I think it’s bad, exactly, but not what I’d prefer.

Which is your favorite? Or, which one do you hate the least?

Frankie Laine– I Believe
Johnny Mathis– A Certain Smile
Doris Day– Secret Love
Dinah Shore– Dear Hearts And Gentle People
Guy Mitchell– She Wears Red Feathers
Johnny Ray– Just Walkin’ In The Rain
Les And Larry Elgart– So Rare
Liberace– Old Piano Roll Blues
Mitch Miller– Tzena Tzena Tzena
Ray Conniff– Tammy
Tony Bennett– San Francisco
Gogi Grant– The Wayward Wind
Sammy Kaye– Harbour Lights
Vic Damone– On The Street Where You Live
Rosemary Clooney– Come On A My House
Frankie Laine– Moonlight Gambler
Johnny Ray*– Little White Cloud That Cried
Red Buttons– Strange Things Are Happening
Patti Page– Scarlet Ribbons
Percy Faith– Theme From A Summer Place

Growing up, we used to have a Mitch Miller and His Gang sing along Christmas cassette that I always liked. “Tzena, Tzena, Tzena” is a Hebrew folk song that was written primarily by Issachar Miron, but over the years people added and rewrote additional parts. The song has also been performed by Chet Atkins, Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole, Judy Garland, Dusty Springfield, Connie Francis, Vic Damone, Chubby Checker, and a parody version by the Smothers Brothers.
