The 30 April Day Thread of Shades of Death Road in Scenic New Jersey

Look, I’m more than just a pretty face posting K-Tel open threads. I can do this, too.

Shades of Death Road is a two lane rural road that runs along Jenny Jump State Forest. They had to stop putting up road signs because people kept stealing them.

Jenny Jump State Forest is named for Jenny Jump Mountain. Legend has it that a horse drawn wagon was out of control on the mountain, and the family jumped off except for little Jenny. The family called out, “Jenny, jump!” but as you’ve already surmised, she went over the cliffs with the wagon.

(This is as it was told to me, Google says Jenny jumped to “escape her attackers”.)

At the base of the mountain, sits Ghost Lake, which is known for … bass fishing.
