Bom dia, boa tarde, e boa noite, meus ‘Cados!
This is the Brazilian Gringo (aka Ice Cream Planet) and if you are reading this, I’m taking the Celpe-Bras exam. It is the only Certification of Proficiency in Portuguese that is offered by the Brazilian government.
During my first 4 years in Brazil, I never had the privilege of studying the language formally. When I returned to the US after my granny fell ill and I got divorced, I realized how much I wanted to make São Paulo and Brazil my true adopted homes. It’s a dream/plan that is still very much alive and in progress. I had long known about the Celpe-Bras as a possible way of showing the Portuguese proficiency requirement for Brazilian citizenship. Now was the time to study for it.
Two and half years later, this dream is finally becoming a reality. I would be lying if I said I didn’t feel a bit nervous, but there is so much joy and pride in finally being able to say that I did this.
Me desejem sorte, galera! Rumo ao próximo capítulo!
