We’re going back to what I used to write about on The Avocado, “shows Sonneta used to watch.”

Wings is a perfectly cromulent sitcom that takes place in a small airport in Nantucket, an island off the coast of Massachusetts. The show is about the adventures of everyone in the airport: Joe and Brian Hackett, who run a small jet company; Roy, who runs a competing somewhat-bigger airline; Fay, who works the front desk for the Hacketts; Helen, who runs the lunch counter (and later has a romance with Joe); Lowell, who is the repairman; Antonio, who drives a cab to and from the airport; and a few seasons in, Helen’s sister Casey. Wings ran for 8 seasons from 1990-1997 and also it was in syndication on USA Network for a long time. Which is where I saw most of it.

Wings has some future “hey, it’s that actor!”s in it, including:

• Tony Shaloub as Antonio Scarpacci (yes, he does a fake accent)
• Steven Weber as Brian Hackett
• Thomas Haden Church as Lowell

You can stream some of the show on Paramount+. Not sure why they don’t have the whole thing.
