The Thursday Politics Thread Remembers The 4th Amendment

With 2026 underway, I’m trying to shift my feelings toward politics and events a bit after taking a year or so off from doing headers. I’ve got over 2,200 posts on the ‘Cado, and probably half of those are politics headers, so we’ll get back into the groove soon enough.

But it’s definitely a struggle, watching events play out, and trying to find a place in which you feel like you can do something. I grew up with the “think globally, act locally” idea being promoted when it came to the environment, but now we’re in a “think nationally, act locally” moment when it comes to protecting each other and the siege that we’re facing when it comes to our rights.

The events unfolding regarding the Fourth Amendment are pretty serious, to say the least, especially in a country where so many just view the Second Amendment as paramount and everything else negotiable in order to achieve their ends.

The Fourth Amendment (Amendment IV) to the United States Constitution is part of the Bill of Rights. It prohibits unreasonable searches and seizures and sets requirements for issuing warrants: warrants must be issued by a judge or magistrate, justified by probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and must particularly describe the place to be searched and the persons or things to be seized (important or not).
