Another Gumball day thread, celebrating Season 2’s “The Sidekick,” in which Tobias procrastinates indefinitely on giving G&D back a borrowed video game, and Darwin, feeling insecure about living in Gumball’s shadow, demands to take point on a shenanigan for once.

Unfortunately, Darwin overcompensates a bit and chooses a disproportionate revenge strategy, taking it upon himself to kidnap Tobias’s mother and hold her for ransom.

Gumball gets indignant about Darwin’s foolhardy idea (which Gumball, as he admits later, would have thought of himself, except Darwin would have talked him out of it—hence the importance of the sidekick dynamic). They attempt to return the stolen mom, with hijinks ensuing, including a trenchant sequence where they have to move invisibly through a public area by disguising Mrs. Wilson as a homeless woman in need of community aid.
