Optional Discussion Topic: Recurring Themes
Some writers tend to repeat similar ideas in all their stories. A young protagonist who’s quick to act without thinking must learn to slow down and think about their actions. An orphan trying to make their way in the world. An older person trying to come to terms with aging and their own inevitable death. A scientist who risks it all. A young person finding love for the first time.
What’s a character type or theme that recurs in your writing? Do you try to make an effort to move away from these, or do you consciously lean into them? Or do your individual projects have little in common with each other?
