Decided to go ahead with a trip to Chicago in a few weeks and have been letting the research take over this weekend (this past evening including what to do if I witness an ICE abduction). There’s been a lot I’ve got done but nothing preponderant; hoping the coming train trip offers some space to plan and schedule the rest of the autumn and winter. That said, I’ve been pressing ahead on some technical research, including familiarizing myself with Paint 3D (still available on my laptop) as a kind of ersatz PhotoShop. I’ve been increasingly obsessed with the spires of a nearby church as an organizing point for the local landscape and have started toying with the idea of doing a landscape collage a la Chagall rather than a more traditional view. I also need to put together a thumbnail collection of figures from sketches over the years so I can use them better in finished pictures. Might do some of that tonight.
I saw Devo and the B-52s in Clarkston, Michigan, Thursday night with my roommate and his friends, and while I got a thumbnail of Fred, Kate and Cindy, it was still a little smudgy. So the header this week is Grenadine, a cover band of (former? and apparently headless!) University of Michigan students playing at Lowertown Bar and Cafe in Ann Arbor Saturday night. Swung by for a pint and was pleasantly surprised to find live music (especially given that the Zach Bryan monstrosity had sucked so much air out of the local room).
How’s your work going?
