Hello! Welcome to COTL, a discussion place for BIPOC. Posted the first 3 Wednesdays of the month
Thread Rules
- We ask that only those who identify as people of color participate in this discussion. White Avocados, while valued members of this community, should remain in ‘lurk’ mode.
- Shaming and hateful speech are unacceptable.
- Please keep potentially traumatic content safely behind spoiler tags.
- Nobody on this thread is more or less a person of color than anyone else. (We will not set clearly delineated boundaries on who qualifies as a ‘person of color.’ As a starting point, this thread uses the definition of ‘non-European heritage of sufficient prominence to affect one’s navigation of a society built on white normativity.’ However, we recognize that there are identities which skirt either side of the divide. If people feel that they meaningfully experience the identity of being a person of color, then they are welcome to participate.)
I was made aware that it is Rosh Hashanah the other day from the PT & it falls on today (as well as the prior 2 days)?
I’m not particularly familiar with the Jewish holiday (Edit: apparently it’s the new year? Or at least the start of a new year according to the Hebrew calendar?), but we like to celebrate a mixture of holidays and events here, so despite all the difficulties facing Jewish people around the world (in a myriad of ways), I wanted to wish everyone here a “Shanah Tovah” (a good year) & “Tizku leshanim rabot!” (May you merit many years).

I was also made aware (thanks to Monday’s PT thread header ) that it also happens to be Hispanic Heritage Month.

I’ll try to make more accommodation for it next month. Unless anyone would like to chip in or add anything themselves?
Hope everyone’s doing well & keep on trucking 🙏🏽
Feel free to discuss whatever you like.
