We’re already down to just 16 states remaining! Round 2 saw some close matches, including one that ended up in a tie, but also some big blow-outs. Here are just a handful of stats.
The biggest blow-out this round came from Georgia handily defeating Illinois with a score of 27-4, accounting for both the highest and lowest overall votes this round. On the other hand, the one tie match this round was between Nevada and Hawaii, with 15 votes each. “Aloha’Oe” will be the one to advance, winning the coin toss. Nevada will unfortunately get the prize for most upvotes among the losers. The state advancing with the fewest votes this is round is Ohio, with only 10 votes to opponent Maryland’s 8. Michigan saw the biggest drop-off in votes compared to the previous round. Though it dominated Round 1 with a total of 32, it only managed 14 votes in Round 2, losing in a very close match against Mississippi. Two states actually managed to earn more votes in Round 2 than in Round 1, Kansas and Oklahoma, both of which were up against themselves in the first round.
