Legendary alt-rock radio station 89X recently returned to the Detroit and Windsor airwaves, after a five year detour as a country station. The station launched in 1991, ended in 2020, and relaunched in 2025 with Jane’s Addiction’s “Stop”. As part of the station’s attempt to win back listeners, they’re playing up their history with “89X Classics”, song that were in heavy rotation back when the station first changed to the alt-rock format in 1991.
