Werewolfs 241: Born to Wolf – Track 5 – Born To Wolf

Together, Townies, we can live with the sadness
I’ll love you with all the madness in my soul

Evening, Route 9, New Jersey.

The highway’s jammed with broken heroes on a last chance power drive. A cow scoots groovily down the road, a puppet and some sort of hovering disembodied screen with a list on it sitting on the rim behind her, holding on tight.

“I think we’ww going to make it,” says the puppet, ignoring all of the ominous undertones in the lyrics of what is on the surface an uplifting musical number. “Cewwtainwwy nothing can go wwong noww.”

“I don’t know,” says Bad Scooter. “I’ve got a bad feeling about this.”

“More Than A Feeling – Boston,” says the hovering screen, indicating something in the road up ahead.

The three pull off to the side and check out the scene. There in the road lie a copy of Queen’s Night at the Opera, with tire tracks scuffed across its cracked jewel case, and also a regular human woman who looks like maybe she has time traveled from a far off future land like the 1990s.

“What’s This? – Soundtrack from The Nightmare Before Christmas,” asks the hovering list.

“I can’t believe it,” says Bad Scooter. “We didn’t even get to their song!”

“What song? What aww you tawwking abowwt?” asks the puppet, in increased hysterics.

“Jungleland – Bruce Springsteen,” says the hovering list sadly.

“What doww we doww noww?” asks the puppet.

The cow stands, puts her shades back on in a groovy, if sad, fashion. “We do what we were born to do,” she says. “We run.”

The other two nod solemnly. They hop back onto the scooter and blast down the highway, the amusement park rising bold and stark off in the distance.

From the shadows, This Town, The Man, and some Eye-Ghosts look on and smile (they all have mouths, it’s fine). Let those broken heroes run. Wherever they run to, the werewolfs will be waiting.

Everybody’s out on the run tonight but there’s no place left to hide
Because, again, there are just werewolfs all over the place.

Cork and Scientician have surrendered to the runaway American dream. They were Broken Heroes On A Last Chance Power Drive, specifically, The Magic Rat and The Barefoot Girl (Town Lovers & One-shot Commuters).

Wolves win! Congratulations to Josephus (This Town), Goat (The Man), Mustard (Eye-Ghosts Of All The Boys Mary Sent Away), and Anna (A Tenth Avenue Freeze Out).

Factions

TOWN

  • 4 2 TRAMPS LIKE US (Vanilla Town)
  • 6 1 BROKEN HEROES ON A LAST-CHANCE POWER DRIVE (Roled Town)
    • Bad Scooter Bad Scooter’s searching for his groove, and along the way he sometimes finds out if people are town or scum. He can pick one person each night to find out if they have groove (town) or no groove (scum). (Town Investigator)
    • Big Man – Everything gets better when the change is made uptown and the Big Man joins your band. Each night the Big Man chooses a player and joins their band, making that person immune to wolf kills. Can target self, cannot target same person twice in a row. (Town Doctor)
    • Mary Mary has one last chance to make it real, to trade in these wings on killing a werewolf. Go get ’em, Mary. (Town One-shot Vig)
    • The Magic Rat – Shares a chat with The Barefoot Girl. If one dies, both die. The two may choose one night during the game to drive The Rat’s slick machine over the Jersey state line, making them immune to all night actions. (Town Lover & One-shot Commuter)
    • The Barefoot Girl – Shares a chat with The Magic Rat. If one dies, both die. The two may choose one night during the game to drive The Rat’s slick machine over the Jersey state line, making them immune to all night actions. (Town Lover & One-shot Commuter)
    • Terry – Tries in vain to breathe the fire we was born in. No special powers. Disappears into the Soft Infested Summer if given a postcard of the Jersey shore, gaining the ability to send postcards as well. (Potential Independent Recruit)

RUNAWAY AMERICAN DREAMS (WOLFS)

  • This TownBaby this town rips the bones from your back. Yikes! Nobody but nobody is getting out while they’re young on your watch. Each night you assign a wolf (can be yourself) to name one player who will surrender to the runaway American dream (=die). Cannot choose the same wolf two nights in a row, unless there is only wolf left. (Head Wolf)
  • The ManYou get to work late and the boss man’s givin’ you hell. Give ‘em hell! Mandatory overtime! No fun tonight! Each night you choose a player whose role will be blocked for the night. Cannot target same player twice in a row. (Wolf Roleblocker/First Backup Head Wolf)
  • A Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out – No one really knows what you are or what you do, but from context clues you seem… bad? (Vanilla Wolf/Second Backup Head Wolf)
  • Eye-Ghosts of All the Boys Mary Sent AwayThey haunt this dusty beach road in the skeleton frames of burned-out Chevrolets. Honestly, you probably should have just moved on, eye-ghosts. But now it’s too late and you’ve collectively transmorgified into a werewolf somehow. (Vanilla Wolf)

ONE SOFT INFESTED SUMMER (INDEPENDENT)

One Soft Infested Summer – You are the general miasma of heat, humidity, and post-
‘60s America that lingers over everybody out on the run tonight. Each night you choose a player to be sent a vintage postcard of the Jersey shore. If the player you have chosen is Terry, then they are recruited to your team, join you in a chat, and also hand out postcards beginning that night. You (and Terry if recruited) win exclusively and immediately if/when all living players have a Jersey Shore postcard (you do not need to have one yourself). You (and/or Terry) do not need to be alive to win. You do not need to recruit Terry to win individually.

Rules

Players are not allowed to edit comments or directly quote from private chats without permission from the mod.

Ties are RNGed.

Wolfs win when they equal or outnumber Town. Town wins when all scum are dead. Independent(s) win when the meet the condition described above.

All living players must vote for autokill (>50% of living players) to take effect.

Order of Operations I Think
Commuting > Roleblocking > Investigating > Postcards > Vig Shot = Wolf Kill > Healing

Please be respectful to all players. Attack arguments, not people. This is just a game, and we’re all here to have a good time.
