The Night Thread Listens to Anly

So it is no secret here that I am an anime fan. One of the things I’ve also talked about is how friends and I will populate a challonge bracket with a bunch of anime OPs and EDs, shuffle them, and then go through and vote on our favorites until we crown a champion. We are actually currently in the midst of “Anime Bracket 6” which is of course the 8th anime songs bracket we’ve done. As part of doing that so many times over the years we obviously notice certain patterns and find artists that make a lot of appearances. So today I’m going to spotlight Japanese singer-songwriter Anly and specifically her songs serving as anime OPs and EDs because that’s what I’m familiar with.

Every time Anly has made an appearance on the bracket it has been a treat. She brings a wonderful energy and emotion to all her performances. I’m going to highlight my 2 favorite songs by her. The first is Sukinishinayo which served as an ending for Dr. Stone New World and went 7-1 in bracket 5, losing to Serial Experiments Lain and then winning out in the loser’s bracket from there for a 9th place finish.

The other song I will highlight because you can’t stop me is the powerhouse that is Kara no Kokoro which was the final OP for Naruto Shippuden that closed out the series and is the first song that put Anly on the map for our particular group. The OP finished 2nd in it’s first tournament, going 7-1 and was our winner of the bracket we did with only Naruto series songs, going 7-0 for a total record of 14-1. We felt the song was beautiful and served as a wonderful capstone of the Naruto series and captured the heart that really drove it when it was at its best. Enjoy and listen to Anly, in anime form or otherwise.
