It feels like it’s only been a week since our last Wednesday, and yet here we are again.
A recent study in The Lancet pointed to changes stealthily made some government datasets. These datasets form the backbone of a lot of academic research, and changes can make it hard to accurately continue to do that research.
So today I wanna shout out the archivists who are doing lots of great work to capture government data and websites and preserve what existed before the Trump administration started tearing down so much. A good source to learn more about these efforts is the Data Rescue Project, maintained primarily by a bunch of awesome archivists and librarians. Even if efforts to stop the collection of data persist, at least previous efforts can’t be completely buried.
Be kind and thoughtful today. Cheers.
