The Night Thread Has Been Conquered by Tirac

Well, this was going to be another Superman header, but last night it was announced that a live-action My Little Pony movie is in early development, so fuck it, let’s do a pony night thread. And by “pony night thread” I mean “HOLY FUCK THIS GUY IS SCARY” night thread.

Yes, if you are not familiar with the franchise, Tirac is in fact a My Little Pony villain. Introduced as the big bad in the first My Little Pony TV special ever–also known as Rescue at Midnight Castle–Tirac kidnaps four cute little ponies so he can mutate them into slaves to pull his mighty chariot. Yes, that is his objective, since Tirac has already taken over Midnight Castle and has apparently conquered multiple kingdoms. The ponies recruit Megan, a human girl, to help them defeat Tirac, and WHY IS THIS GUY IN THE FIRST MY LITTLE PONY SPECIAL?? LOOK AT HIM!! JESUS FUCK!!

Obviously, Tirac should be teased during the end credits stinger of the first live-action My Little Pony movie. Hasbro should set him up as the Thanos of Equestria/The Human World, since I have a feeling the My Little Pony film will have humans. This will of course launch the PCU (Pony Cinematic Universe), culminating in Tirac wanting to make the whole planet pull his chariot. Or something. What I’m saying is there’s potential here.

Tirac would eventually appear on My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic as Lord Tirek (don’t ask me why they changed the spelling of his name), in which he memorably had a ultra-destructive magical battle with Princess Twilight Sparkle in the Season 4 finale Princess Twilight Sparkle. As for his original TV incarnation, Rescue at Midnight Castle would frustratingly never be released on DVD in its entirety, instead only being available in a cut-down version on disc. Fortunately, someone has uploaded the original cut of the special on YouTube in glorious aging VHS quality, so if you want to meet the face of many a child’s nightmare, as well as hear the song of the sea ponies which will never leave your head, knock yourself out in the player below.

Have a SHOO-BE-DOO night, y’all!
