Hello! Welcome to COTL, a discussion place for BIPOC. Posted the first 3 Wednesdays of the month
Thread Rules
- We ask that only those who identify as people of color participate in this discussion. White Avocados, while valued members of this community, should remain in ‘lurk’ mode.
- Shaming and hateful speech are unacceptable.
- Please keep potentially traumatic content safely behind spoiler tags.
- Nobody on this thread is more or less a person of color than anyone else. (We will not set clearly delineated boundaries on who qualifies as a ‘person of color.’ As a starting point, this thread uses the definition of ‘non-European heritage of sufficient prominence to affect one’s navigation of a society built on white normativity.’ However, we recognize that there are identities which skirt either side of the divide. If people feel that they meaningfully experience the identity of being a person of color, then they are welcome to participate.)
Hey everyone 👋🏽. Managed to go to the London PRIDE parade again this year.
A small selection of images featuring people of colour (who are in the minority at the event):

I ended the day at the Dean Street stage, by checking out The Queer Asian Takeover group (like in last year’s CotL1):

Unfortunately I can’t seem to access any of the information needed to give all the performers their dues (as I don’t have an Instagram account 🙄🤷🏾♀️), but here’s The Queer Asian Takeover’s (mother of the house) LuckyRoySingh’s account: https://www.instagram.com/luckyroysingh

If you wanna see way more, I’ve posted about it in the following linked Monday PT & yesterday’s LGBT+ threads:
It’s worth noting that not everything is all joyful & happy:
Apparently international businesses are moving away from DEI & supporting Pride organisations: with 85 seeing a reduction in partnerships & more than 40 of them said the drop was at least a quarter less compared to last year. I knew the US elections would have an effect here but blimey the level and detail is sophisticated. Part of me is like fuck those companies, but then ultimately if we play by capitalist games we lose by them too 🤷🏾♀️…
Also I missed Chaka Khan at the Trafalgar Square stage 😱😭:
Still regardless of the unsettling realities, I hope all these heartwarming images of pride bring you some sense of peace, that there is joy & happiness in the world & it’s important to hold on to it.
Prompt: see or do anything fun this last weekend, or lately? I know it was a fourth of July weekend the past week?
Feel free to talk about anything else that ails ya!
