A scene from the colored version of the comic "Bone." The main character Fone Bone is running away from two giant rat creatures that are chasing him. In the first panel, he stops suddenly at the edge of a river flowing over a cliff. In the second panel, Fone jumps down to a small branch sticking from the cliffside. In the third panel, the rat creatures look down at Fone perched on his little branch. Fone smiles and says, "Those Rat Creatures would have to be pretty stupid to follow me on to this frail, little branch!" In the fourth panel, the two rat creatures are on the end of the branch that is bending under the weight. A furious Fone yells at them, "Stupid, stupid Rat Creatures!!"

Comic Book Conversations: Color and Colorists

Last week, we conversed about black and white books and now we’ll explore the wonderful world of color.

Who are your favorite colorists?

What books did something special with their coloring?

Which manga did something special with their color pages?

Which recolorings worked and which didn’t?

What are some favorite examples of coloring for mood versus realism and consistency?

Next week, we’ll celebrate the day.
