It’s almost time for our ultimate Tournament of Champions. 148 of the very best video game songs are already qualified for this tournament. But, they need 108 more to join them. So, we have one final chance to obtain glory. Songs that fell just short in previous tournaments, mingling with select personal favorites from our community, all to determine who earns a shot at glory.
This tournament is slightly unusual; we will have our group stage (18 groups in all) and then we’ll be almost done. Since the goal is to determine a top 108 rather than a champion, there will be no knockout rounds.
Our one possible exception! If, at the end of our group stage, the song ranked 108th has the same score as the song ranked 109th, all songs with that score will compete in a short runoff to determine which ones deserve however many spots in the top 108 remain.
Still, this will be a very short tournament; we’ll be wrapping up in less than a month, and transitioning to the main event.
