Normally, I don’t have to worry about the YouTube videos I post here getting taken down for copyright infringement. Advertisers want their commercials to be seen by as many people as possible – they pay good money to get their ads in front of people’s eyeballs. They’re certainly not gonna object to people sharing it with a wider audience.
… except in this case. Here, the YouTube channel only got permission to upload the videos by agreeing to censor out all references to the company these ads were shilling. Apparently, the company was worried that these old, outdated ads “could influence customers in the wrong way”.
I’m not sure precisely what “the wrong way” was – it could be these ads are simply marketing products the company no longer sells. But I can’t help wondering if, as the general public became increasingly aware that “furries” were a thing, someone got uneasy about these ads where people in animal costumes are clearly horny for each other.
Though, if that was the concern, adding censorship bleeps to the dialogue only makes things sound dirtier. And these are only scratching the surface of a series of ads that just gets weirder as it goes along:
