Jeopardy!

ALL KINDS OF PHRASES // 21st CENTURY NEWS // A DOUBLE SHOT OF WHISKEY // ME & JEFF DANIELS GOT A HISTORY // DOWNTOWN NEAR FIFTH STREET // EVERYBODY’S AT THE “BAR”

DD1 – $800 – A DOUBLE SHOT OF WHISKEY – Glenfiddich & Glenlivet are famous scotches of this type, meaning produced from the barley of just one distillery (Geoff doubled to $4,000.)

Scores at first break: Geoff $6,200, Peter $1,000, Stella $2,800.

Scores entering DJ: Geoff $7,400, Peter $2,400, Stella $2,800.

Double Jeopardy!

THE ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM // 20th CENTURY POETRY // ANCIENT HISTORY // FROM THE KIDZ BOP VERSION // LIFE IS A 5-LETTER WORD // SAY “NO” MORE

DD2 – $1,600 – 20th CENTURY POETRY – Ezra Pound was partial to these poetic works defined as divisions of a long poem; he wrote 117 of them (Stella doubled to $8,000 vs. $7,400 for Geoff.)

DD3 – $1,200 – LIFE IS A 5-LETTER WORD – Out West, Theodore Roosevelt had a “half-melancholy feeling as I gazed upon these” beasts of a “nearly vanished race” (Stella improved by $3,000 to $23,000 vs. $7,400 for Geoff.)

Geoff led after round one, but wasn’t heard from for a long time in DJ as Stella completely took over, scoring on both DDs in the round and building an impressive runaway at $25,800 vs. $10,600 for Geoff and $3,600 for Peter.

Final Jeopardy!

FAMOUS STRUCTURES – In April 2018 an MLB game was postponed after ice falling from this structure punctured the roof of Rogers Centre

Stella and Geoff were correct on FJ, with Stella adding $3,000 to win with $28,800.

Final scores: Geoff $21,199, Peter $1, Stella $28,800.

Triple Stumper of the day: No one knew the “north-of-the-border” whiskey with the initials “C.C.” is Canadian Club.

Wagering strategy: Geoff chose to put second money on the line by betting nearly everything, despite having more than double of third and that the game was a runaway for Stella.

One more thing: Following up on yesterday’s game in which four clues were unrevealed, today’s contest had three leftovers.

Correct Qs: DD1 – What is single malt? DD2 – What are cantos? DD3 – What are bison? FJ – What is the CN Tower?
