In 2020, when the pandemic became “real” and lockdown began, many of us had to find new outlets for creativity, stress, companionship, what have you. I briefly flirted with cross-stitch before remembering that I struggle to thread a fishing hook and wisely switched to coloring instead.

Chris Judge, a Dublin artist, took a different route. Deciding his daughter’s photos of clouds needed some personality, he began anthropomorphizing them. People responded, and it soon became A Thing — so much so that Judge’s “Daily Cloud” project continues to this day. Here are some of my favorites:

In a 2023 interview with NPR, Judge suggested he might dial it back to a weekly cloud. As far as I can tell, he hasn’t. That’s over 1800 clouds and counting!
