Jeopardy!

TAKE ME TO YOUR COMPANY LEADER // TV SHOWS BY EPISODE TITLES // 18th CENTURY AVIATION // NO TIME TO SAY THE WHOLE WORD // AT THE CEMETERY // THAT’S THE END OF THE LINE

DD1 – $800 – AT THE CEMETERY – This burial place for the indigent & unidentified takes its name from the Bible (With both opponents in the red, Wendy doubled to $5,200.)

Scores at first break: Mitch $400, Brendan $600, Wendy $5,200.

Scores entering DJ: Mitch $2,400, Brendan $1,600, Wendy $6,200.

Double Jeopardy!

ALMA MATERS // GEOMETRY // STARTS WITH “U-N” // PLAYS & PLAYWRIGHTS // U.S. HISTORY // A + (DIRECTOR’S NAME) + (WORD FOR A MOVIE)

DD2 – $1,200 – GEOMETRY – This geometric figure has 2 congruent & parallel polygons as its bases; its optical counterpart is more loosely defined (Mitch moved to a much closer third, doubling to $7,200.)

DD3 – $1,600 – A + (DIRECTOR’S NAME) + (WORD FOR A MOVIE) – “Wonka” is “a Paul King” this 10-letter word for a sweet creation (With the lead at $8,600 and both opponents close behind, Wendy added $100.)

Wendy found DD3 with a slim lead and was correct, but only bet $100 on it, after which Brendan took over, entering FJ at $19,200 vs. $12,400 for Mitch and $11,900 for Wendy.

Final Jeopardy!

NFL GEOGRAPHY – It’s the state with the lowest population density that’s home to an NFL team

Everyone was incorrect on FJ. Brendan bet the least, dropping $5,601 to win with $13,599.

Final scores: Mitch $6,220, Brendan $13,599, Wendy $3,800.

Wagering strategy: Wendy’s $100 wager on DD3 against two very competitive opponents, in a game where it appeared she needed all the points she could get, was an example of how sometimes, choosing not to gamble can be the biggest gamble of all.

Judging the writers: Good idea for a FJ clue, but it could have used a hint about the team itself to help the contestants, perhaps the last year they won a Super Bowl, or how many times the franchise has moved.

Correct Qs: DD1 – What is potter’s field? DD2 – What is prism? DD3 – What is confection? FJ – What is Nevada?
