“Dad and Horatio Go To The Fireworks Museum” is the 10th episode of the 10th Season of the USAmerican television situation comedy Dad’s Casa. This is a 4th Of July episode. The plot is a Shaggy Dog Story.
We open on Dad reading a book to kids at the local library. The kids are bored. Dad says he’ll tell them the story of Horatio and he going to the Pyrotechnical Museum and told them not to worry, pyrotechnical means fireworks. The kids are pleased. “It was a Sunday when it was almost the 4th Of July. Horatio, my friend and neighbor, came to the door with tickets to the Pyrotechnical Museum. Which reminded me of the time I was going to wish for fireworks from my daughter Anne who was then The Easter Bunny. I was watching TV a week before Easter when Anne and her friend Claire came downstairs. Anne said: “Dad, I have good news and bad news.” *please don’t be pregnant, please don’t be pregnant*. “The good news is that I’m not trapped in a mirror dimension. The bad news is that I’m the Easter Bunny” and when she said that she was suddenly wearing an Easter Bunny costume over her clothes. “1) Are you otherwise ok? and 2) I wish-” “Yes and no, I can’t grant wishes”, Anne said while taking off the costume. I hugged Anne and said “Your sister will be home soon. She’ll know what to do.” “My being The Easter Bunny rather than the alternative was Beth’s advice actually. It was just after Christmas and Beth was reading about Ēostre, the Anglo-Saxon goddess of the dawn, and I was reading Alice Through The Looking Glass when Beth suddenly had a premonition and said to me, if you ever find yourself in trouble with a demon or a mirror or other things you don’t think are things to worry about, remember that you can counter by saying that you aren’t who you are but are someone else-but more an entity, than a person, like The Easter Bunny.” “Then Anne told me about her saying some nonsense to a mirror and a demon started coming through the mirror and Anne remembered what Beth had told her and she saw the Post-It “I am the Easter Bunny” that Beth had stuck to the side of the mirror.” Anne said “Go away demon, I’m the Easter Bunny.” Dad stopped talking when he realized all the kids had left. It’s for the best, thought Dad, he and Horatio didn’t visit the Fireworks Museum that day, anyway, since it was closed for maintenance.
